The dark cloud floated through the trees in the cloudy dark night, emitting a scary presence and making the small animals subconsciously scurry in fear and worry. It continued until it found an empty bench, made of the same wood that the trees were. Feeling amused at the irony, it made its way to it and assumed its human shape.
He sat down on the bench, completely comfortable with his amount of poison.
“Smoke never gets Old. Ha!”
Hexxus manifested legs and a small cloud stool to rest on, taking out a cigar and with a small finger snap, he lit it.
“Boiling grem... poison sludge..." He sang.
As he waited and sang absentmindedly, he failed to notice a small creature, sneaking up behind him. It deployed its wings and it quickly flew to the back left of the bench, listening intently as Hexxes licked his lips in satisfaction.
"Ever since I put that depressing and frankly boring forest behind me, my life is PERFECT! Drinking Mothers milk class smoke everyday for Breakfast, poisoning every single Garden I come across and the best part of all: I never need to see HER blue eyes- "
“Think again."
Hexxus spat out his cigar in complete horror. He whacked his chest and coughed it out as he turned around in horror.
"CRYSTA?!?!"
Crysta, the small fairy, with a long red dress and black hair, hovered behind the bench, her fist clenched and her face looking defiant.
“Hello Hexxus.” She waved her outstretched arms in mock pazazz. “I’m BACK!”
Hexxus snarled with fury. “Oh why can't you just DIE!”
He swung his arm towards the fairy and tried to grab and crush her. But she then swerved out of the way and took a dive towards the smoke’s face, causing him to roar with fury.
His arm quickly transformed into oil and he quickly snatched Crystal out of the air.
“What do I have to do in order to get you six feet under?” Hexxus snarled as he brought Crystal close to him.
“I b-beat you once H-hexxus…” Crystal choked, suffocating from the smoke cloud’s grip. “And I’ll try beating you again!”
Hexxus snarled, but then got himself a smug smile.
“Oh I think you’ve forgotten about a little something that I did to you. I’ll let you see.”
He grabbed Crysta and shook her.
“Seems you’re too weak to use your pathetic treehugger powers on me. No tree to clean up my mess!”
Crysta desperately tried to get removed from his grip but it was no use. She was trapped in his grip.Crysta, Flowers and trees
“Why are you even still after me?” Hexxus asked.
Crysta looked up defiantly at him. “Cause I won't stop until you’re trapped.”
Hexxus rolled his eyes as he sat back down on the bench. “Y'know, what is it with you stupid fairies and keeping me locked in a tree.”
“You’re dangerous.” Crysta said. (“Ooh! How flattering!” Hexxus said.) “You’re going to destroy Ferngully!”
“Crysta, trees depressed and bore me.” Hexxus said, conjuring up a cigarette. “Besides, before I caused Mt. Warning to have a little burp, It was so boring and generic.”
“I didn’t have that much Crysta. Just…a beautiful tropical home, and loving caring Humans and animals, and to be betrothed to dear Magi.”
He chuckled. “Useless garbage like that…”
Crysta’s jaw dropped and she buried her face in her hands.
“But now your magic is gone,” Hexxus bragged, looking up at one of the trees with a hungry, sadistic look. “I'll suck you all dry. And no, I won’t spit you out like Spinach.”
Crysta frowned. “Is that it?” She asked. “Is that really all you want? To hurt other people? To cause pain and suffering?”
“More or less.” Hexxus said, taking up a more business like tone. “What else am I able to do?”
“Please Hexxus.” She begged again. “Surely you’ve thought to have been something better than this.”
Hexxus shot her a sadistic glance. “Crysta, I just like my toxic love.”
“Meow…”
The two briefly looked over at the noise, which was coming from the bushes. Emerging from them was a small, battered white cat. She was covered in dirt and one of her blue eyes was scratched.
“Oh my goodness!” Crysta once again tried to escape Hexxus to get to the injured cat.
“Oh no ya don’t.” Hexxus said, tightening his grip. “Like I’m gonna let you help that thing.”
The Cat kept howling with pain, rolling around and trying to claw away for help. “Just help it!” Crysta begged.
“No, I think watching this thing writhing feels nice.” He kept holding on to Crysta, watching the cat wraith in pain. However, the cat’s screams of pain were…somehow bothering him. The scratches seemed to echo in his mind, creating an unexpected sense of discomfort. He didn’t know why…
The cat crawled over to him and waved through his smoke vapor, before resting on the ground, writhing in pain.
Hexxus sneered at Crysta. "Well, well, look at you, Fairy. Can't even protect a helpless little creature. How pathetic!"
He abruptly stuck Crysta to a nearby tree with his oil, leaving her immobilized.
Hexxus grabbed the cat by the neck, only for it to start crying even more. Worried about being heard, he wrapped it in its arms and quickly rocked it, trying to shut it up.
Änd then, weirdly, he started to make it go much slower than before. The cat's eyes began to droop, as it went asleep, its pain subsiding. Hexxus kept rocking, unaware of the effect on him.
“Stupid cat…” Hexxus said, doing his best to cradle it. “Thank goodness it shut up. Someone might have heard.”
Crysta just looked blankly at the two, not believing what she was seeing.
“What?” Hexxus barked.
“You…” She pointed to Ghost’s recovering in Hexxus’ arms. “Helped Her.”
Hexxus looked down at Ghost’s resting body. “I did?”
Crysta was still surprised. “W-why?”
Hexxus shrugged. “I…I don’t know. I just…did it without thinking.”
“Maybe…” Crysta thought aloud, “Maybe…you’re not so bad after all.”
Hexxus blanched with anger.
“No! I would never!”
Crysta frowned. “Okay then. Then why did you save-?”
“Come on, what's the big deal? Nobody's that heartless-”
He suddenly blanched again and he gasped, looking away from Crysta.
“Don't try it.” He snarled, his fists tightening. “It's a one-time thing.”
Crysta rubbed her chin. “Well, I thought I couldn't save the forest from you…but maybe-.”
Hexxus snarled. He reached into his chest and drew out a white crystal. There was a bright flash of light…and she vanished.
Hexxus stuffed the crystal back into his chest and snarled again, trying to forget what she had said. But he couldn't help it. WHat she had said was…concerning. But there was no doubt about it. He helped the cat and it felt…good.
Just then, his elbow started beeping and he took out his communicator, wiping it off and reading the message.
I’ll be right there after I sTAB her 💀 🩸
Hexus shoved the and crossed his arms in boiling hot fury.
“I’ve spent all those years locked in a tree and I know that slicing a path of doom, and having foul breath to guide it is the only thing I’ll need I just want to be evil.”
He rubbed his temples, though Ghost rubbed her head against his chest, purring.
“But can I? Oh no,” He clutched his head in fear. “Master won't be pleased!”
